At HTC, pay gaps don’t just exist between President Rich Maroko and his members. There are also significant reported wage disparities among workers themselves.
An analysis of the hourly wages of unionized hotel workers in the New York-Newark-Jersey City statistical area found that White unionized hotel workers report an average pay rate that is $8.32 higher than those of Black unionized hotel workers. That gap rises to almost $10 after controlling for factors such as age and education.
